Simulation

Test crowd scenarios before the event takes place.

Well-founded choices made prior to the event

Simulation is used to obtain advance answers to questions regarding issues that cannot be rectified once the event is underway. How does the crowd behave within the chosen layout? Where do bottlenecks arise in route planning or capacity? And what happens during peak periods or non-standard scenarios? Answering these questions prior to the event allows for informed decision-making and risk management, rather than having to resolve issues reactively. Crowdcom’s simulation process is designed to be concise and practical. During a preparatory phase lasting approximately two days, we analyze available count data derived from long-term monitoring, previous editions, or supplementary counts. This data boasts at least 98% accuracy and serves as the foundation for building a realistic simulation model of the event site. In collaboration with our partner uCrowds, we translate routes, zones, capacities, and crowd flows into a digital 3D environment.

Joint simulation and decision-making

Next, a half-day simulation session takes place, during which various scenarios are worked through jointly with the organization, security services, and other stakeholders. Examples include crowd entry and exit phases, changes to route planning, or the impact of crowd management measures. The session focuses on gaining insight and facilitating decision-making: identifying what works, where adjustments are needed, and which choices can be justified to the licensing authorities. The outcome is a concrete and practical basis for the further planning of the event.

Does Crowdcom use simulations?

Yes, simulations are used to test scenarios. This is done based on previous measurement data.

Does Crowdcom create custom simulations?

Yes, simulations are always custom-made. Crowdcom has developed a special concept that makes simulation available for any event involving crowd management challenges. Read all about the development in our solution: Simulations tab.

What is simulation, and what does it yield?

Simulation is a powerful tool that provides insight into crowd flows, capacity, routing, and bottlenecks within a 3D environment. It assists in making informed decisions regarding target visitor numbers, the layout of sites and routes, and the design of entrances or walkways.
